Transatlantic Energy Research Experience (Graduate Students)
Transatlantic Energy-Research Experience
Each spring, EPIC (Energy Production and Infrastructure Center) at UNC Charlotte’s William States Lee College of Engineering welcomes graduate students from Germany’s Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) as they take part in a six-month research exchange program. KIT is one of the largest and most prestigious research and education institutions in Europe and is known for its high quality of research work around the world. EPIC is a collaborative, multidisciplinary effort that is uniting the academic and research expertise of the university with the great wealth of energy engineering talent in the Charlotte Region. This partnership is a result of a “Memorandum of Understanding” signed in 2013 between KIT and EPIC to build a trans-Atlantic energy bridge and aims to link academic and research initiatives of the two institutions around key energy issues. As part of the exchange, UNC Charlotte students have an opportunity to spend ten weeks in KIT over the summer.
