Job Description:
Affinity Energy is looking for a professional to fill an entry-level position (Level I) or a professional with 2 to 5 years of control systems experience to fill a control system programmer (Level II) position within our rapidly growing team. As a Control System Programmer I or II, you will have responsibility for executing both in-house and on-site tasks for our customers.
 
General Responsibilities include:
  • Develop project submittals and drawings
  • Layout control systems architecture
  • Configure and program power plant controllers 
  • Design, test, and commission graphical user interfaces 
  • Regularly participate in project lessons learned, safety, profitability analysis, risk mitigation, and additional areas for future improvement 
  • Using internal resources to troubleshoot at commissioning site
 
In-house tasks can include:
  • Preparation of design submittals or system documentation
  • Development of data acquisition databases and OPC interfaces
  • Creation of HMI and SCADA Applications
  • PLC programming
 
On-Site tasks can include:
  • Installation and commissioning support
  • Assisting with customer training
  • Troubleshooting networks, instruments, and controls
 
As a member of our team, you will receive the following types of training:
  • Training with Trihedral VTSCADA and Inductive Automation Ignition software
  • Optional Training with Control Expert programming software and Schneider Electric power monitoring expert
  • Fundamentals of emergency power supply systems for data centers and central energy plants
  • Fundamentals of piping and instrumentation diagrams for chilled water, steam, and fuel oil system within central energy plants

  • BESS PPC PLC and SCADA system integration for the largest PV utility-scale solar farm in the U.S.
  • Design, build, program, integrate, and commission SCADA, EMS, HMI, and PLCs for utility-scale PV solar and battery energy storage systems
  • SCADA system for a data center that will be a cable landing station for one of the longest undersea cables in the world
  • SCADA systems at the largest healthcare and largest bank in Charlotte, NC
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Control Programming or related field (Required)
  • General understanding of electrical theory and hardware
  • Working understanding of computer programming and logic

Required Skills:

Framatome is seeking a Robotics Engineer for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia. Under broad supervision, performs broad design engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity and the development of new methods. Provides a leading technical role with in-pipe and application tooling design and supports tooling component assembly and testing.  Task may include technical support related to planning, designing, analyzing, constructing and maintaining robotic tooling and components that support liner applications.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs non-routine and varied engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.

  • Receives minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.

  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.

  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making adaptations and modifications.

  • Continues to develop knowledge of organization processes and customers.

  • Works on special projects, as directed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

  • BS in Eng'g/Eng'g Tech. plus a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr. engineering degree.

Post-Grad Assignments in Transmission & Distribution Infrastructure Research Area

EPRI

The EPRI Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure (TDI) Team would like to engage baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degree candidates in annual contracts to support ongoing research, demonstration and deployments. The TDI research portfolio includes asset analytics, asset management, overhead and underground lines, substations, cyber security and information communication technology.

The EPRI program is open to candidates with US citizenship and residency. An annual contract will be put in place with an option to extend for a further year. The contracts include benefits and renumeration is dependent on qualification level. The duration of the employment is one year with a possible extension being offered at the end of the term. Candidates with engineering, science and analytics degrees are preferred.

EPRI research is addressing numerous industry issues including, wildfire detection and mitigation, aging of T&D assets, monitoring of T&D assets, undergrounding, resiliency, and electromagnetic threats to mention a few. More information can be obtained from www.epri.com.
