Biography
Dr. Matthew Whelan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His areas of research expertise include full-scale experimental testing and performance monitoring of structures, structural health monitoring and condition assessment, sensing and instrumentation for structural and geostructural applications, response of structures to dynamic loads, and bridge management systems. He received his B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Clarkson University and has been a member of the faculty at University of North Carolina at Charlotte since 2010. Dr. Whelan is a registered Professional Engineer.
