Biography

Zachary Matheson joined the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) in June 2025 as a Research Engineer – Electro Mechanical Systems Design and Integration Specialist. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a focus on power electronics and machines. His thesis focused on automating the design of a high-bandwidth current sensor for a non-invasive hybrid Rogowski coil sensor, aiming for a robust design for DC- MHz detection. Mr. Matheson’s research areas of interest are design of sensors for power electronics, implementation of wide bandgap semiconductor devices in power electronics, and power converter design/modeling.
